Day 090

March 31, 2009 at 8:56 pm (Things) ()

I don’t get to buy new clothes very often, so when I heard about a 3 T-shirts for $15 deal, I took advantage.  I didn’t actually get the exact shirts that I wanted, but these are proving to be quite useful, and I’ve already worn them a few times since.

Day 089

March 30, 2009 at 8:45 pm (Things) (, )

This is was my dog, Spencer.  To avoid rehashing his entire backstory, I will just say that he was staying with family for a while, and they could no longer care for him.  I was unable to take him where I am currently living, despite the perfect back yard… so I had to find him a new home.  I know he will be loved and well taken care of there, but it’s still hard.  Especially since I didn’t really want to give him up… :(

yeah, it snows in late March around here... nothing new

Day 088

March 29, 2009 at 8:30 pm (Places, Things) (, )

I started a local walking group, and today was the first walk.  The plan is to walk every Sunday afternoon for an hour or two, at various locations around the city.  I think we had a great start to the walk, even though attendance was low.  We saw a great mix of urban, suburban, and wilderness!  Under this bridge was actually a great place to have a break (not alone, and not at night, of course).

Day 087

March 28, 2009 at 8:21 pm (Things) ()

Tonight some friends and I participated in Earth Hour,  with a candlelit games night.  We played Trivial Pursuit, at space food and pizza, and later, when the hour was done, played some PS2 games.  Good times.

Day 086

March 27, 2009 at 9:32 pm (Things) (, , )

We went to Moxie’s for a lunch meeting at work, to ‘celebrate’ the end of a long project some of us had been working on.  To be honest, I did not personally put a lot of extra time into the project compared with most, other than dealing with the repercussions that stem from changes in software.  But everyone did that.  I helped them track a before and after progress report though.   Anyways… lunch was QUITE yummy actually, and despite the hoochy greeters at the door, I’d definitely be willing to go back.

Day 085

March 26, 2009 at 9:06 pm (Places) (, )

With the weather finally getting warmer, thoughts turn towards the back yard… and the thought of spending more time outside.  Unfortunately, the vision of the backyard is not what it should be.  But imagine the potential, especially in the setting sun!

Day 084

March 25, 2009 at 8:58 pm (Things) ()

Dan and I must’ve had one of our long conversations on the phone.  We have them once in a while.  At the time of this posting, I don’t recall what it was about.  I just know it’s not the first, nor the last time that we’ve spent a while on the phone.  His cordless phone dies after about 2 and a 1/2 hours… we’ve made it there quite a few times.

Day 083

March 24, 2009 at 8:45 pm (Places) ()

It might seem strange to send a post card to someone from a city where they used to live.  It really was a ‘wish you were here’ sort of thing though.  I was also surprised that the photo was of sailing on the River.  No one does that any more.  I don’t even know if it’s allowed, so that made the photo seem a little surreal.

March 23, 2009 at 8:18 pm (Places) ()

The sun was setting behind the lamppost in the front yard.  The light was ‘on’, and no one was home.

Day 081

March 22, 2009 at 8:10 pm (Things) ()

The aforementioned now-closed bar had a bit of a yard sale to clear out some of their stuff.  I picked up some cute tiny little mugs, and some nice sturdy glasses.  And a piece of some memories too.

Day 080

March 21, 2009 at 8:01 pm (People) (, )

A group of my friends and I would regularly find ourselves at a local watering hole.  One of the best in town, both for it’s lack of young ‘clubby’ types, and for it’s lack of old freakish cougar pub men.  It just felt right for the mid 20s-mid 30s crowd… artsy, folky, hip, dancey, chatty… we often had theme nights where we’d dress up in outfits that we wouldn’t dare wear somewhere else (because dressing in tin foil accessories, or masks, or feathery outfits, or wigs isn’t the ‘norm’).  And it was cool, it was fun… they had a patio, they had a dance floor, they had food, and indoor tables.  They had great sweet potato fries.  This is a friend and I enjoying said fries…. for the last time.  :(

The bar is now closed (with the hopes of reopening ’some time’ this summer, but who knows).  The last night, we all dressed in black, and mourned.

Not sure what the plan was, but we have a cool curtain at our patio door… thought I could pull off some ‘awesome’, but not today…  At least I can admit when I look like an idiot.

Day 078

March 19, 2009 at 9:46 pm (Things) (, )

I thought the snow would be gone.  I thought this cute little guy was the last bit of snow that we were going to see this winter.  This is the remnants of a HUGE pile of snow that was in our yard.  I wish I’d taken more pics of it.  I don’t mind snow.   I wish it was something that would be more sporadic.  Like, not 6 months straight with it, and 6 months without it.  More like… 3 months sunshine, 1 month snow, repeat.  lol  That would be ideal.

Anyways, the ironic part is that about 4 days after I took this photo, it snowed again.  Sigh.

(I couldn’t decide which photo I liked best, so I’m posting two).

Day 077

March 18, 2009 at 9:26 pm (Things) (, )

So the weather was starting to hint that it was going to get warmer.  The snow was really starting to melt, and nearly all gone… This hinted at spring, and summer, and bonfires!  This is the bonfire pit in the backyard, with remnants of last year still in it.  The ground was quite squishy, and I nearly ruined my shoes getting these shots!  :P

Day 076

March 17, 2009 at 9:09 pm (People) ()

So, we’ve been looking into doing some paperwork for immigration purposes for me to move to the U.S.  Part of that requires a passport-type photo.  I wanted to see what sort of photo I could get at home.  I forgot to move away from the stuff tacked on the wall, was super, super tired as this was late at night, and also wanted to see what it looked like with flash or without flash.  I was unsuccessful, and got my passport photo taken later in the day ‘officially’.

Yeah… it was St. Patrick’s Day, and this is the best I could come up with.  lol  Sorry.
